The New Bifocals: Multifocal Lenses

Dec 31st, 2009 by James Pynn | 0

What are bifocals? They’re lenses that have two focal prescriptions. This means most of the lens is cut to your normal, everyday prescription. A small window, typically at the bottom quarter of the lenses is cut to match your enhanced, reading prescription. This makes it a seamless transition when reading or driving or doing whatever. This means no more reading glasses at the dinner table. It’s a brilliant development, but one that has a new permutation.

Enter multifocal lenses. These contacts are taking something old and spinning it into something new. You no longer need the frames. These contacts are fitted like any other pair of contacts, except for the fact that your reading prescription is etched into the lenses. This means you can look down and access a more powerful prescription for reading the fine print.

If you’re keen on living a more active lifestyle, and don’t want to have to deal with reading glasses, then these multifocals are essential. Even with conventional glasses, working out or exercising is tough to do. They slide, the fall, they break, they get scratched.

Do you love to sweat? Well, if glasses hate anything more than steam, it’s sweat. Sweat breaks own the finish of most glasses, so that after a few years, the arms of the glasses tend to get stained white. To be sure, contact lenses don’t last for more than a year, but replacing them is well worth the price.

Try wearing your glasses when you’re boxing in the ring. Nice try. So, now you can opt for contacts and still stave off reading glasses with these multifocal beauties. Go from the ring to the showers to the restaurant without more than a shower and change of clothes. Care to order for madam? Of course you do — and you don’t even have to hold the menu at arm’s length to catch the specials.

Release the Muhammad Ali inside of you with a custom pair of multifocal lenses. Lose the glasses and release a custom you.
