It seems like everytime the doctor orders me a different set of contact lenses, I never seem to see as sharp as compared to my eyeglasses. If I want to look at something up close, my eyes just blur.

I have astigmatism, and wear soft extended wear contacts and have glasses.

My optometrist informed me that my sight would not be as sharp with the soft contacts as with glasses. (When I had hard contacts, my vision was as sharp as with glasses, but I lost tolerance with them.)

Depending on your age, if you’re wearing contacts and your vision is fine for distance and blurring up close, you may need reading glasses. (Generally, when people turn 40, the muscles in the eye that flex to focus the eye’s lens on close objects will stop working.) You can wear your contacts, and just throw on reading glasses when you have to.

I suggest you go to your eye doctor, and wearing your contacts, have an eye exam to see how well those contacts are performing for you. And make sure to communicate your concerns/dissatisfaction about your vision.

FYI, I wear Frequency 55 Toric lenses by Coopervision.

I’ve seen commercials for Acuvue that advertise contacts for Astigmatism. Here’s a couple of links:

I think Accuvue is the only brand that has a contact for astigmatisms. Depending on how bad your astigmatism is you may not have to have special contacts. I have an astigmatism but my doctor said I didn’t need special contacts.
